Soft synth-pop, kept soft: the verses glow and sway with the sleigh-bell shuffle, and each "last Christmas I gave you my heart" lifts the car rather than hits it. George Michael played nearly every instrument on the 1984 record himself, and the choreography matches that homemade warmth instead of trying to force it into a banger. It builds gently to finish at its widest, led by the front signals. At four minutes and twenty-three seconds it is the longest Christmas show here, and a gentle, glittering one for the houses that do tasteful.
