A lurching waltz, staged in light: the verses creep and trade sides across the car the way the song trades voices, and every "this is Halloween" chant snaps the front up in unison. The orchestral swells earn full-body flares. This carries the highest proportion of partial light values of anything in the catalog, close to a third, which is what gives Elfman’s arrangement its wobble instead of a hard mechanical snap. Rear-led and fast-firing across three minutes and nineteen seconds. Built for the end of a driveway on the thirty-first of October.
How this one is choreographed
This is a busy show. The lights re-fire about 1.0 times a second, near the top of what the catalog runs. The peak is in the middle third, where roughly 43% of the car is lit against 37% at the top, then it eases back for the finish. The fullest ten seconds arrive late, starting at 2:35 with about 46% of the car lit, so keep the camera rolling to the end. Most of the work falls on the rear turn signals, re-firing about 1.8 times a second, with the tail lights answering back at 1.1. About 59% of the re-firing happens at the rear, so the better view is from behind the car. The quietest part of the car is the inner main beams, at about 0.7 re-fires a second. It runs 3:19 and averages 78 of 255 across the light channels, a mid-brightness show, with real headroom kept in reserve for the peaks. About 31% of the light values are partial, toward the top of the range for this catalog, so the show leans on swells and dimming as much as on hits. It never goes completely dark for long: the longest gap is 0.9 of a second, just before the close.
